SUMMARY:The Madness of Lady Bright
DESCRIPTION:Mannakin Theater & Dance stages Lanford Wilson’s 1964 one-act about Leslie Bright\, an aging drag queen alone in a New York City rooming house on a hot summer evening\, confronting loneliness\, memory and the fear of growing old. This production puts dance on equal footing with drama: the Boy and Girl who haunt Leslie’s memories are performed by local dancers. Nathan Cottam directs\, choreographs and plays Leslie. \nPerformances: Fri Oct 16 7:30 PM; Sat Oct 17 7:30 PM; Fri Oct 23 7:30 PM; Sat Oct 24 7:30 PM; Sun Oct 25 3:00 PM. Running time about 75 minutes. \nTickets $25 to $70. \nRead Q’s interview with Nathan Cottam about bringing dance to the play.
