Paula Vogel’s play about a play follows the artists who staged Sholem Asch’s God of Vengeance, the Yiddish drama that landed its Broadway cast in an obscenity trial in 1923. With klezmer-inflected music, the production spans continents and decades to explore censorship, nationalism, and the policing of queer love. Directed by Pirronne Yousefzadeh.
Previews Sept 16 to 18; opening night Sept 19; runs through Oct 18. Evenings 7:30 PM, matinees 2:00 PM. ASL and audio-described performance Oct 15. Tickets from $39.
