Add your business
Get your business, practice, or organization in front of Minnesota’s LGBTQ+ community. A basic listing is free, and a person reads every submission before it goes live.
Who can list
Businesses, nonprofits, venues, and individual professionals who serve LGBTQ+ Minnesotans. An individual professional is a listing for you personally (a therapist, realtor, trainer, stylist, coach or agent), even if you work under a firm, salon or brokerage. You do not have to be LGBTQ+-owned to be listed, but we do ask, because readers filter for it.
You do not have to buy anything to be in this directory. A free listing is a real page with your description, your address and a map. Sponsorship changes where you appear and how much you can show. It does not change whether you are here.
What a listing includes
Every business in the directory gets a free listing. A sponsored listing is part of an advertising package with Q Minnesota rather than something you buy on this form. Here is the difference.
| What you get | Sponsored | Free |
|---|---|---|
| Where you appear | Above the free listings, on the directory and on every category page | Listed A to Z, below the sponsored listings |
| Sponsored label | On your listing and at the top of your page | None |
| Photo at the top of your page | Yes, full width | Not included |
| Your logo | On your listing and your page | Not included |
| Photo gallery | Four photos | Not included |
| Your description | Any length, shown in full on your page | Up to 650 characters, shown in full on your page |
| How much of it shows in the directory list | About 30 words | About 20 words |
| Directions, call and website | As buttons | Directions as a link; phone, email and website as text |
| Hours | Full week | Not included |
| Social links | Yes | Not included |
| Phone number | Yes | Yes |
| Website link | Yes | Yes |
| Email address | Yes | Yes |
| Address and map | Yes | Yes |
| Category and city | Yes | Yes |
| LGBTQ+, BIPOC and woman owned marks | Yes | Yes |
| Upcoming events at your place, when they are on our calendar | Yes | Yes |

| Nearby listings on your page | Yes | Yes |
Sponsored listings are labeled Sponsored, on the listing and at the top of the page. The ownership marks are free on every listing and are attested by you, not verified by us. If you want to hear about advertising with Q Minnesota, say so on the form and we will follow up. Your free listing goes live either way.
What to have ready
- A description of what you do and who you serve, up to 650 characters on a free listing (about 100 words) and any length on a sponsored one. It shows in two places, so write it in that order: your first sentence, about 20 words, is what shows in the directory list, and the whole thing shows on your own listing page.
- Your street address and city. Every listing shows an address and a map. If you work from home or by appointment only, you can keep the street address off the map.
- Your phone, website and hours. These show on sponsored listings. On a free listing we keep them on file to reach you and to check the listing, and they are not published.
- Your primary category, plus a second one if it fits. Not sure which? The category guide is just above the form.
- Whether the business is LGBTQ+-owned, BIPOC-owned or woman-owned. These marks are free on every listing and readers filter by them.
- Images are part of the advertising package, not this form. Free listings do not show images. If you sponsor, we send a short materials form for your logo, one banner photo and up to four gallery photos.
What happens after you submit
A person reviews every listing. Most are live within a few business days. We email you from info@qminnesota.com with the link when it is up, or if we have a question. If something on the form does not fit your business, leave it blank and tell us in the description.
Not sure which category?
Pick the category readers would browse to find you. If you fit two, put the main one first. If you are an individual professional, choose the category for your work, not your employer’s.
- Arts & Entertainment. Galleries, theaters, museums, music venues and other places to see and make art.
- Auto services. Mechanics, detailers, dealers, and auto parts and accessories shops.
- Bars & Nightlife. Bars, clubs, lounges, taprooms, drag and burlesque venues. A bar with a kitchen lives here.
- Childcare & Family Services. Daycares, pet services and other family support businesses.
- Contractors & home services. Plumbers, electricians, HVAC, cleaners, organizers and landscapers.
- Education. Schools, tutors, classes and other educational resources.
- Event Planning. Wedding planners, party promoters, caterers, and event rental companies.
- Faith & Spirituality. Affirming congregations, interfaith groups, chaplaincy and pastoral care.
- Financial & Professional Services. Tax, bookkeeping, insurance, banking, real estate, marketing, tech and photography professionals.
- Fitness & Wellness. Gyms, studios, personal trainers, yoga and pilates, and other movement and wellness services.
- Food & Drink. Restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, bakeries and food trucks. A restaurant with a bar lives here.
- Funeral & Memorial Services. Funeral homes and memorial service providers.
- Health & Clinics. Gender-affirming care, primary care, mental health, therapy, recovery services and other health providers.
- Legal. Attorneys, including name and gender-marker changes, family law, immigration, discrimination and estate matters.
- Nonprofits. Advocacy groups, youth and elder services, and community organizations.
- Personal Care. Salons, barbers, stylists, tattoo shops, massage therapists and spas.
- Personal Development. Life coaches and other personal growth resources.
- Retail. Clothing boutiques, gift shops, jewelry stores, bookstores and other shops.
- Travel & Lodging. Hotels and other lodging for travelers.
- Venues & Community Spaces. Event venues, community centers and meeting rooms that host events but are not a business in another category.
Two calls people ask about: a bar with a kitchen is Bars & Nightlife, a restaurant with a bar is Food & Drink. A space is Venues & Community Spaces only if it is not already a business in another category.
