Umbra Arts

Umbra Arts is an artist collective and gallery in Minneapolis, at the corner of Lake Street and Lyndale Avenue, created to give LGBTQ+ artists space and support for uncensored self-expression. Co-founded by Josh Kelly and Mike Welton and opened in November 2024, it runs rotating gallery exhibitions, retail space for member artists' work, and a coffee shop added in 2025. Regular programming includes monthly figure drawing and weekly yoga, and the space hosts community partner events such as the Queer Silent Book Club and gatherings with local leather and kink organizations. Artists can apply to join the roughly 20-member collective, which works on monthly wall rental plus commission on sales.
